Lining Revealed – A Journey Through Folk Wisdom and Contemporary Vision

Lining Revealed examines the interactions between folk craft and contemporary art by juxtaposing artworks, handicrafts and archival documents. Through the critical lens and creative manifestations of contemporary art, it reveals the historical, social and cultural significance embodied in folk craft and the role craft plays in reinvigorating contemporary vision.

This catalogue features a reflective essay by exhibition curator Wang Weiwei, installation photographs, a documentary, and details about the exhibited works and their artists. It also includes contributions from expert collaborators that offer insights into Korean straw culture, the glossy indigo fabric of Chinese ethnic minorities, and the homespun, silkscreen-printed textiles from Chongming Island.
