Closing Performance: Sounds of Tidal Weavers

An intercultural and experimental performance awaits! To celebrate the closing of the exhibition Tidal Weavers: Islands Exchange, Hong Kong artist Ma Wing Man Mandy will collaborate with Tika and DIXXXIE from the Indonesian art collective Komunitas KAHE, bringing to you an immersive experience.
Tika’s singing and the rhythmic sounds of DIXXXIE’s textile tools complement each other, while Ma’s improvised movements place Indonesian traditions within the context of Hong Kong. Together, they will draw inspiration from ‘Jata Kapa’, a song often sung by Indonesian women while spinning yarn, taking you on a journey through the vibrant textile culture of Maumere, Indonesia.
The event will take place in Gallery 1 at CHAT and welcomes all walk-in visitors. No reservation is required.
