CHAT Two-Day Summer Camp: Summer Hat Making

$960 | RSVP

10% discount for CHAT members, 15% for CHAT Patrons.

Let your little ones embrace summer in style with a handmade, eco-friendly hat!

During this two-day camp, children will learn to observe nature closely and document plants through drawing. They will also experiment with block printing and natural dyeing, then fold and sew their own summer hats by hand. After the camp, they will take home a unique hat to wear proudly throughout the sunny season.

Day 1: Observe plants and create naturally dyed fabric

Participants will first visit the rooftop farm of The Mills, where various dye plants are grown for CHAT’s community programme Seed to Textile 2026. They will be introduced to the plants, observe their leaves and flowers closely, and record them through drawing. After that, they will return to CHAT Studio and colour a piece of fabric through natural dyeing and block printing. They will also decorate the fabric using fabric paint and leaf pounding techniques.

DAY 2: Fold and sew your own hat

At CHAT Lab, participants will learn folding, hand-sewing and embellishing techniques to make a summer hat with the fabric created the day before. They will also design and make their own badge and cord to safely attach the hat to their bag.

*Parents can drop off and pick up their children at CHAT Reception.
