Making Toys from Everyday Materials

$80 | RSVP

Can a paper cup become a balloon? Can a chopstick become a toy pistol?

In this playful workshop, Hong Kong collector Joel Chung shares how children once made their own toys using simple household materials. Participants will create easy-to-make toys, including paper cup balloons, spinning toys made of paper plates and cups, as well as rubber band chopstick pistols.

Along the way, discover how creativity, curiosity and a few everyday objects can spark endless fun. Make, play and experience a piece of Hong Kong’s childhood history.

This event accompanies the special display Snuggle and Stitch: Childhood Textiles of Hong Kong in The D. H. Chen Foundation Gallery.

Experience: No prior experience is needed. Suitable for adults and children alike. Children must be aged 6 and above.
