Learning Tour on Sustainability

Sustainability and environmental protection are more than buzzwords – they are more pivotal than ever to our shared world. How can we put these values into practice and become smarter, more responsible consumers?

In this one-hour interactive tour, participants will closely examine rare museum-grade textile artefacts alongside the industry’s latest innovations. Through engaging activities, they will learn how to extend the life of their garments and adopt environmentally conscious habits in everyday life.

Tour content includes:
– Rethinking your wardrobe: Understand the consumption habits and key sustainability challenges in Hong Kong
– Learning through touch: Feel the differences between various fibres and recognise the environmental issues in textile production
– Inspired by local wisdom: Discover Hong Kong’s latest textile technologies and innovations addressing environmental challenges
– Decoding museum artefacts: Take a close look at museum-grade textile collections and learn to appreciate their cultural value
– Discovering production and consumption trends: From international environmental standards to garment labels, gain a solid understanding of the circular economy through fun and practical examples
– Learning through making: Choose between two simple hands-on activities – transform preloved T-shirts into tote bags or learn to mend a piece of garment

CHAT’s one-hour Learning Tour on Sustainability is suitable for Primary 4 to university-level students, as well as corporate ESG task forces. The tour aligns with the spirit of active experiential learning in STEAM education and prides itself on a ‘learning by doing’ approach. Participants hone their critical thinking and analytical skills while exploring textile materials, production and innovations. Through direct, tactile interaction with textile artefacts, they also develop cultural and artistic literacy while broadening their interdisciplinary perspectives. The hands-on activity further strengthens creativity and problem-solving skills, encouraging participants to bring sustainability into everyday life and learning.
