Leung Mee-Ping with Fashion Terrorism 6, a mixed media installation by artist Yin Xiuzhen

Women in Art: Leung Mee Ping on Yin Xiuzhen: Sky Patch

Free Admission|RSVP

In the summer of 2002, Yin Xiuzhen and Leung Mee Ping participated in Four Corners, a group exhibition featuring installation works by 4 female artists at Artist Commune, a former artist collective based in Cattle Depot Artist Village, Hong Kong. The exhibition marked the beginning of a decade-long friendship.

In this talk, Leung will share her professional and personal experiences with Yin, exploring the intersections, similarities and challenges of a woman artist in contemporary Hong Kong and Beijing. The discussion will also include the ways in which family and motherhood affect the advancement and representation of women in art, as well as the tensions between generations and genders.

The talk will be conducted in Cantonese and Mandarin with simultaneous interpretation into English with a Q&A session.

Audience is welcomed to join the talk at CHAT Lounge or participate in the sharing by Zoom. The Zoom meeting ID and a link will be shared with registered participants via a reminder email 3 days before the talk. We invite all participants to watch the online Curator’s Tour prior to the talk for a more engaging discussion. Kindly also download the Zoom app on your device prior to the start of the session.

On-site participants can also join a curator-led tour before the talk. The curator-led tour has limited capacity on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register: https://bit.ly/371BfNv
