Plush Restoration: Introductory Show-and-Tell
How do we preserve beloved childhood toys that grow worn over time?
Ah Bo, a soft toy restorer, will introduce the fundamentals of doll restoration and share practical tips on how to care for cherished toys. There will also be a story sharing session, inviting participants to recount their own memorable encounters with soft toys. You are encouraged to bring a plush toy in need of repair – Ah Bo will select one toy from the audience and demonstrate restoration.
Drawing on years of experience, Ah Bo believes restoring toys is also an act of mending the heart. On social media, she frequently shares stories about the emotional bonds people form with their soft companions, revealing how these small objects carry memories far larger than themselves.
This event accompanies the special display Snuggle and Stitch: Childhood Textiles of Hong Kong in The D. H. Chen Foundation Gallery.
The deposit will be refunded in full upon attendance.
