CHAT invites you to tackle your mending pile during this season of staying at home! Harness the power of mending and darning to give your pre-loved garments a new life. Immerse yourself in the motion of needle and thread and let’s make together even while apart!

The virtual doors of CHAT Lab will open for mending and darning tutorials. Participants are invited to take their pre-loved garments that need fixing and to learn mending (for woven garments like denim) and darning (for knitted garments like cardigans and socks) techniques to extend the garment’s life in an online tutorial. A range of mending and darning stitches will be taught according to the specific needs of participants’ garments.

Experience level: This activity is better suited for participants with some stitching experience but welcomes beginners as well.
Material needed: Participants must prepare their own pre-loved garment to mend.
Language: Cantonese and English

Participants may use their own sewing kits or order a CHAT mending kit (1 embroidery hoop, 2 to 3 colours of embroidery floss, 2 needles, fabric pieces) (as pictured) for HK$200, including the workshop fee (note that delivery takes up to 4 days so participants must sign up by the Saturday before the workshop).
