WANG Huan
Wang Huan is a Beijing-based writer, art critic and curator. He is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of GENERAL manual. His recent research focuses on the relationship between the folk, the masses, secret societies, and the self-driving force of creativity.
Wang’s recent curatorial projects include Folk in Order at MACA Art Center, Beijing (2024); Guo Fengyi: COSMIC MERIDIANS at Long March Space, Beijing (2023); and The Intentional Fallacy at Power Station of Art, Shanghai (2022). Publications edited by him include Nothing Left but Words, Myth Rhetorical, GUO Fengyi: COSMIC MERIDIANS, Mountain River Jump: Cards of Chinese Animal Idioms, and GENERAL manual Vol.1: Contemporary Punctum. He was selected for the De Ying Curatorial Fellowship in 2024 and for Artist-in-Residence Taipei in 2020. He won the first prize of the PSA Emerging Curators Project in 2019 and the first prize of the International Awards for Art Criticism in 2018. His criticism and essays have appeared in Twenty-First Century (21C), ARTFORUM and ArtReview, among others.
