Debbie LEUNG
Born in Hong Kong, Debbie Leung is a textile artist with over 2 decades of experiences working with textile and has been experimenting diverse media including mosaic, pottery, glass and fibre.
Leung has served as a visiting lecturer at institutions such as The Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), the China Fashion Designer’s Association, and the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, U.S.A. and design colleges in Hong Kong. In addition to her teaching roles, she specializes in creating art wearables in felt for individual clients and commercial organisation, fashion shows, exhibition and costumes for celebrities and stage wear for performance artists. Leung has also lent her expertise as an art consultant for hotel chains and as a curator for art exhibitions.
Her recent project involves revitalizing the Cheongsam, an intangible cultural heritage of Hong Kong and promotes sustainable handmade fashion item. Her creations have been presented and collected around the world, including in the Global Qipao Invitational Exhibition: Mountains And Water at China National Silk Museum, Hangzhou (2022); and at the International Fashion Art Exhibition at the China Academy of Fine Art cum International Fashion Art, Inner Mongolia (2016).
