Bethia KONG
Bethia Kong is a Hong Kong composer, improviser, pianist, drummer and conductor. Mesmerised by the concept of ephemerality and evanescence, she experiments with different approaches of turning certain moments (from visceral-feelings, literatures, ideas) into physical-gestures and imaginary-sculptures of sounds in her compositions and works.
Bethia graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a Bachelor degree in Music Composition & Electronic Music under the guidance of Dr. Puishan Florence Cheung. Bethia’s works have been performed by the Seoul Modern Ensemble, AsianArt Ensemble, JACK Quartet, Dawning Quartet, and Romer String Quartet. Her pieces have been performed locally, and internationally in Berlin, Seoul, and the United States.
She won the first prize in the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild’s Hong Kong New Generation 2022 Composition Competition with her piano quartet piece “Mayfly”.
