Hong Kong Natural Dyes Outdoor Workshop

Learn about Hong Kong’s nature while dyeing your own textile piece!

Over the past few seasons, CHAT has been working on the Seed to Textile project and growing dye plants to colour fabrics through natural means. This workshop invites families to create together at The Park of The Mills using organic, locally sourced Chinese indigo and cape jasmine vats. You will learn to employ resist techniques and dye your textile artwork bright yellow (cape jasmine) and deep blue (indigo).

Experience level: No prior experience is needed. Suitable for children aged 6 and above. Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult. Suitable for families.

Materials: Each participant will be provided with one 100% cotton handkerchief (45 x 45 cm) for dyeing. Extra handkerchiefs may be purchased on site for 50 HKD each.

Ticketing Arrangements on Weekends and Public Holidays

To ensure a safe and pleasant experience for all, CHAT will implement timed admission arrangements on weekends and public holidays until further notice.

Free Ticket distribution begins 30 minutes before each session outside CHAT Shop (G01A). Each person may collect up to 4 tickets. Tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, while stocks last.

Visiting sessions and ticket distribution times are as follows:

1️⃣ 11:00am – 12:45pm
Distribution starts at 10:30am

2️⃣ 1:00pm – 2:45pm
Distribution starts at 12:30pm

3️⃣ 3:00pm – 4:45pm
Distribution starts at 2:30pm

4️⃣ 5:00pm – 7:00pm
Distribution starts at 4:30pm
