Work and leisure, sight and sound, the technical and the personal – counterpoints that become intertwined in practice. In the CHAT Arcade, audio recordings from former workers are presented alongside the instruments of labour that once measured their productivity in garment manufacturing, cotton-spinning and knitwear machine repair. Each installation of sight and sound is further animated by a personal object shared by the workers, revealing the unique narratives unexpected of factory work. Come with careful listening ears to allow narratives both intimate and phenomenal to unfold.
