Ju-chen Chen

Dr Ju-chen Chen is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Anthropology of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her scholarly interests cover a range of topics and geographic locations: female migrant workers in China and their attempts to obtain better housing for their sons; Filipino domestic workers in Hong Kong and their participation in beauty pageants as a way to achieve their dreams; and independent musicians and music event organisers from Hong Kong and Taiwan and their alternative lifestyles. Ju-chen is interested in the relationship between gender and migration, and she uses “aspiration” as the keyword in analysing her various research subjects.
