Pasha UMER
Pasha Umer is a renowned Hong Kong-based dance artist from Xinjiang. She currently serves as a lecturer at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, a council member of the Hong Kong Xinjiang Association, the vice chair of the National Ethnic and Folk Dance Grading Management Committee of China and an examiner for the Chinese Ethnic and Folk Dance Grade Test Center.
A former member of both the Xinjiang Song and Dance Troupe and the Oriental Song and Dance Troupe, Umer has also performed as a lead actress in movies such as Mirage, Songs of the Tianshan Mountains and The International Rescue. She has a prolific international artistic career spanning performances across Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Russia, Spain, Italy and France. Her recent works include Aurora over the Silk Road, a solo dance recital held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, and Ode to the Silk Road presented by the Hong Kong Dance Company. In 1997, she founded the Silk Road Dance Cultural Society, dedicated to fostering appreciation and exchange of Silk Road and ethnic minority cultures.
